It is believed that a manor house has stood on this site since the 13th century, passing through many ownerships over the years, including the Crown in the 15th century. The property was partly demolished in 1846, not long after the surrounding moat had been filled in. More recently, Lynden Manor was owned by Lady Nadejda, Marchioness of Milford Haven and her husband Captain George Mountbatten, uncle of Prince Philip and brother of Lord Mountbatten of Burma. In 1951 it was sold to Albert Frederick Hare, an architect, who divided Lynden manor house into three individual properties.
Langworthy is arguably the prettiest of these and offers spacious family accommodation arranged over three floors with some stunning features to behold. Of these perhaps the most striking is the main drawing room which measures over 33' by 19' with a fabulous vaulted ceiling and intricate oak panelled walls. To the far end double doors open directly to the private gardens. The second reception room we feel could equally be used as a family room or, as it currently is, luxurious office/study quarters. This rooms features an attractive fireplace as a focal point and again enjoys direct access to the gardens. The kitchen/breakfast room lies centrally to the home and affords a good range of fitted units and work surfaces including a central island. Lying adjacent, with separate access to the hallway is a well proportioned dining room. Completing the floor, and located off the hallway, is a practical cloakroom. To the first floor there are three bedrooms, with the master and guest boasting ensuite facilities in addition to a separate family bathroom suite. To the top floor are two further bedrooms, one of which has an ensuite bathroom.
Located on the fringes of Holyport village, the property lies within a short distance of two well regarded public houses on the village green, local village shops, a doctors surgery and a primary school. Maidenhead and Windsor are both within five miles, with each offering a wide range of leisure amenities, schools and shopping facilities. Maidenhead railway station provides a mainline service to London Paddington, with fast services taking well under half an hour. This station will form part of Crossrail in 2018 and will then offer direct services into the heart of the Capital. The M4 at Junction 8/9 is approx two miles distant connecting to London, M25 Motorway network and Heathrow Airport. A criss-cross of footpaths in the locality provide endless scope for walking and riding etc.
The property is approached via a gated entrance which opens to a large gravel driveway providing ample parking. The gardens are predominantly laid to lawn with a variety of mature borders. To the far end of the plot is a separate detached annex, which comprises an open plan living room/kitchen, two bedrooms, a bathroom and a cloakroom.
