About this property

TENURE: Freehold

A charming three bedroom 18th Century Grade II Listed detached cottage, located in the conservation area towards the centre of the village opposite the church and standing in attractive gardens and grounds of approximately 0.21 of an acre.

The property was refurbished by the current owner in 2001 and this included a damp course, new windows, re-wiring, installation of an Aga and heating system. Constructed of brick and stone beneath a tiled roof with extension to the rear elevation, two chimney stacks and casement windows, the property provides well-proportioned accommodation arranged on two floors, boasting an abundance of charm and character. On the ground floor there are two separate reception rooms, each with beams exposed to the ceiling. The sitting room features an inglenook fireplace with ornate wood burning stove and exposed antique oak floorboards which continue to the dining room where there is an open fireplace. The kitchen has a vaulted ceiling and features a range of base units, an LPG fired Aga and a flagstone floor. On the first floor there are three good sized bedrooms and a bathroom.

Situation
Turweston is a small stone village of great charm on the borders between Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire. It is situated on a gentle slope down to the River Ouse which runs parallel with the main village street. Most of the village lies within a conservation area and contains many attractive buildings, some of which are listed as being of special interest. St Mary's Church is situated in the centre of the village and dates back to the 12th century and is part of the West Buckingham Benefice. The property is well located for access to the M40 (junction 10 or 11) and peak services from Banbury and Bicester railway stations providing access to London in under an hour. The village is in catchment for the Royal Latin School, with Winchester House School and Beachborough School close by.

Outside
The property is set behind a mature hedge with a pedestrian gated path to the main front entrance. The front gardens are set to each side of the pathway, principally laid to lawn, with flowering borders. A vehicular access to the side of the property leads onto a gravelled driveway with parking for several vehicles. The gardens are complemented by a paved terrace, attractive flowering borders and several mature trees. There is a brick outbuilding which has planning consent for conversion into a bedroom with ensuite shower room, or could alternatively be used as a home office. In all, 0.21 of an acre.

Additional Information
LPG boiler installed in 2016 serves domestic heating to radiators and the Aga. Mains water connected.
